The Toyota Center will finally host The Finals this Friday. No, Daryl Morey's Rockets did not come back from the dead to re-enter the playoffs, although they might as well have since perhaps they could actually diagram plays out of timeouts. Unlike say, Oklahoma City.
↵Instead, we're talking about the Calder Cup Finals. The AHL. You know, hockey? Yes, Houston still has a team. The Minnesota Wild affilated Houston Aeros narrowly avoided ignominy last night with a 4-3 win against the Hamilton Bulldogs to win the Western Conference. Hamilton had erased a three games to none deficit to tie the series at three-all before Jon DiSalvitore's controversial goal with 1:13 to play gave the Aeros a lead that they finally would not relinquish. Houston will be taking on the Binghamton Senators in the Calder Cup Finals.
