I'll be honest. The thing that gives me the most anxiety about moving into this new spot here is talking about the other sports in Houston, like the Texans and Rockets. Just know that I probably am an idiot and dismiss any stupid comments I make while going to Battle Red Blog or The Dream Shake.
↵But, I did see this report that Carolina Panthers wideout Steve Smith may be available for as little as a third-round pick. There are many reasons why Houston wouldn't do that deal. Specifically, Smith has a bad injury history and hasn't always been the model teammate and citizen off the field.
↵But, he would be an excellent second option in the passing game. With 'Dre on one side stretching the defense, Smith would probably see some different coverages than he's seen in the past. He's still go speed and would only be under contract for another two seasons.
↵The key to the Texans' season will be how the defense improves, but adding a piece like Smith could turn a good offense into a great one. Assuming the lockout ends and Smith can be a team player, of course...
