Friday Night Football Coming To Your TV This Fall

If you miss the dearly departed best show on TV, Friday Night Lights, take heart. You'll be able to make up for it some by watching live games every Friday this fall on Fox Sports Southwest/Fox Sports Houston. As part of a joint effort with Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine, Fox Sports will feature a game of the week, broadcasting from the location with a pregame show they're hoping can be similar to ESPN's College GameDay.

A couple of Houston-area matchups made the schedule as Clear Springs will play at Pearland in Week 4 on Sept. 23 and Dekaney will play at Klein Forest in Week 9 on Oct. 28. The Nederland at Port Neches-Groves matchup will also be on the schedule for Week 5 on Sept. 30. That show should have a special pregame look at the few coaches to have been at both Nederland and PN-G, including one Bum Phillips, who was interviewed for the show. Yours truly will also likely be at that matchup, twittering away about the action.

High school football is pretty fantastic, and from the sounds of this programming block, this will be great for high school football fans. I mean, they'll have a channel devoted to whip-around coverage, a la the NFL Red Zone channel. If you haven't seen that, it's the best thing since sliced bread.
