NBA to resume labor talks on Monday

That sound you just heard were crickets chirping loudly.

With the NFL having its biggest, craziest week in recent memory (complete with a big ratings boost for NFL Network) and the baseball trade deadline owning the news cycle right now, the NBA is less than an afterthought. Seriously, has anyone even thought about the NBA labor stuff in the past five days?

David Stern is getting buried right now, and I wonder if that will affect the negotiations when they resume next week. See, basketball is not football. They can't afford to go away for an extended length of time and still have the same popularity. If owners think they're franchises are valueless now, think what will happen when they cancel a season like the NHL did. Players and teams will both lose in that scenario.

So, all that's a long-winded way of saying I hope the NFL resurgence this week talks some sense into the NBA players and execs when they meet next week. Lord knows they can use it.
