The Houston Texans jumped out to a fast start with a 90 yard drive on its first possession to take an early 7-0 lead over the Tennessee Titans at the end of the first quarter.
The Texans mixed in a healthy dose of run and pass with Ben Tate and Derrick Ward carrying most of the workload. Tate capped off the drive with a four yard touchdown run.
In what has become common for the Texans this season, quarterback T.J. Yates left the game and went to the locker room with an undisclosed injury. Yates was sacked and slammed hard to the ground on Houston's first play from scrimmage. Jake Delhomme entered the game for the first time this season on Houston's next possession.
Yates was effective in the early going completing all four of his passing attempts for 47 yards. Ben Tate rushed for 26 yards in the quarter while also hauling in two receptions for 17 yards.
