Ravens vs. Texans score update: Late TD pass has Houston up, 9-3, after 1 quarter

An early Sunday-afternoon showdown between the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens has been a defensive battle to start, with the Texans up 9-3, after a quarter at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

Justin Tucker connected on a 51-yard field goal to give the Ravens a 3-0 lead after an 8-play, 45-yard drive that lasted nearly three minutes. With Houston struggling to score, the Texans were able to register a safety — sacking Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco in the end zone with five minutes remaining in the period to bring the score to 3-2.

Finally, with the first quarter coming to a close, Houston quarterback Matt Schaub connected with wide receiver Kevin Walter for the game's first touchdown to put the Texans up.

Terrell Suggs' return to the lineup had been the story of the game leading up to the Sunday afternoon kickoff, and Suggs and the Ravens defense had kept the Texans from gathering offensive momentum in the first quarter until they scored their touchdown. Suggs recorded a sack against Schaub in the quarter.
