LSU vs. Mississippi State score update: Bulldogs lead 3-0 after 1st quarter

A touchdown by Marcus Green has given the Mississippi State Bulldogs a 7-3 lead over the LSU Tigers after the first quarter Saturday.

Green caught a 9-yard pass from backup quarterback Dak Prescott with 7:46 remaining in the quarter to put MSU up 7-0. LSU responded in the closing seconds of the first, getting a 28-yard field goal from Drew Alleman after driving inside the Mississippi State 15-yard line before the drive stalled.

Mississippi State quarterback Tyler Russell is 6-for-7 for 64 yards in the game. Chris Smith has two catches for 25 yards. Five different receivers have caught passes already.

LSU is led by running back Jeremy Hill, who has six carries for 28 yards. Quarterback Zach Mettenberger is 4-for-6 passing for 35 yards.

Mississippi State has 84 yards of total offense to LSU's 77. Neither team has turned the ball over. Mississippi State has the ball in its own territory as the second quarter gets under way.
