LSU vs. Mississippi State score update: Tigers lead 30-17 after 3 quarters

No. 7 LSU leads No. 21 Mississippi State, 30-17, after three quarters in a back-and-forth game between the two SEC teams.

The Tigers led 20-10 after the first half, in with LSU scored 17 points in the second quarter thanks to a pair of Zach Mettenberger touchdown passes, the second of which was tossed in the final seconds of the half. Mississippi State responded on the opening drive of the third quarter with a quick touchdown, taking advantage of a short field after LSU fumbled a punt return.

Mettenberger led the Tigers 45 yards on the next drive, capped off by a 41-yard field goal by Drew Allman. After the Bulldogs were forced to punt, LSU marched 80 yards for what could be a backbreaking touchdown in the final minute of the third quarter.

Mettenberger is 18-of-27 for 266 yards and two touchdowns in the game, with the Tigers outgaining the Bulldowgs 361-187 overall.
