Roll Tide they did. After a shocking 29-24 road win in Alabama on Saturday, Tostitos Fiesta Bowl has named Texas A&M their National Team of the Week.
Entering the game, Alabama sat atop the BCS rankings with a 9-0 record. The Aggies came in ranked 15th and took it to the Tide in the first quarter, jumping out to a 20-0 lead. After Alabama clawed back to within one score in the fourth quarter, A&M freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel put them away with a late touchdown.
The new BCS rankings have the 8-2 Aggies at No. 8, with SEC rival LSU just above them at No. 7. The Crimson Tide slipped to fourth, behind new No. 1 Kansas State, Oregon and Notre Dame.
This was the second time Texas A&M defeated a team that was first in the AP poll, and the first time in ten years. Back in 2002, the Aggies upset then-No. 1 Oklahoma 30-26. This marks the fourth time the Aggies have been bestowed with Team of the Week honors.
