Either Sam Houston State or Southeastern Louisiana is going to have its Southland Conference championship hopes damaged after the two teams go head-to-head in Huntsville on Saturday. The Bearkats enter the game with a 4-1 conference mark, while the Lions are 3-1 in league play this season.
SHSU is the winner of five straight, after starting the season at 1-2 with back-to-back losses to Baylor and Central Arkansas. Since then, the SHSU has returned to the championship level it played at in 2011. In their last three games, they've held opponents to 263, 210, and 181 yards, respectively. The Bearkats are coming off a 56-7 win against Lamar. Running back Timothy Flanders rushed for 131 yards and four touchdowns.
SLA lost to Central Arkansas last week. The Lions are led by senior quarterback Nathan Stanley, freshman running back Xavier Roberson and wide receiver Stanley Moore.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Bowers Stadium. Watch the game at the Bearkat Sports Network.
