LSU vs. Mississippi State: Alfred Blue dressed in support of Tigers

Injured LSU running back Alfred Blue supported his team from the sidelines against Alabama.

LSU Tigers running back Alfred Blue isn't expected to return to the field this season. After beating out a bevy of other Tigers tailbacks to start the team's first three games, Blue suffered a knee injury in Week 3 against Idaho and hasn't played since.

Still, there was Blue, in uniform, on the Bayou Bengals' sideline as the team took on No. 1 Alabama last Saturday supporting his team, as the Shreveport Times writes. LSU coach Les Miles said the team has a rule about inactive players being on the Tigers' bench unless they can put on a uniform. Blue skirted the rule by donning the purple and gold, even though there was no chance he'd be able to play.

Blue rushed for 270 yards and two touchdowns on 40 carries before going down for the season, numbers that are still good for fourth on the team in rushing. Miles said he enjoyed Blue's school spirit:

"It's a great story," LSU coach Les Miles said. "He so wanted to be with his team. And we have a standing rule that if you're injured and you cannot play, we'll get you a great seat but you're not going to be a bench guy. Unless you can put on the uniform, you're not in the bench area. So Alfred Blue, who's way ahead and has really rehabilitated extremely hard, elected to put that uniform on and come out there with us. I loved it. I personally enjoyed it greatly."

No. 9 LSU hosts No. 22 Mississippi State on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT.
