The Texas Longhorns look to salvage a season most of its fans consider disappointing on Saturday, when they face off against the Oregon State Beavers in the 2012 Alamo Bowl.
Texas went 8-4 this season, and has now gone three consecutive seasons without reaching a BCS bowl game. Although most schools are satisfied with an 8-4 record, some Texas fans want Mack Brown replaced.
Brown understands the pressure of working for a school like Texas, telling the media:
"If you ask me if I'm happy with three years of non-BCS games, I would say no. That's for me, much less everybody else."
David Ash will start at quarterback for the Longhorns after being benched in favor of Chase McCoy during team's loss against the TCU Horned Frogs.
The Longhorns' opponent has a quarterback controversy as well, as both Sean Mannion and Cody Vaz have started at quarterback for the Beavers. Vaz will start in the Alamo Bowl, but both quarterbacks could receive playing time.
Vaz and Mannion have both thrown the ball well this season, as Oregon St. ranks 15th in the nation in passing offense. Wide receiver Markus Wheaton will present a tough matchup for the Texas secondary, as the senior averages over 100 yards per game.
