Alabama capped off the SEC season by winning the conference's championship game, a wild 32-28 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday night.
With the win over Georgia, Alabama captured its 23rd SEC title. The Crimson Tide will now advance to face Notre Dame in the BCS Championship game. The Tide finished a game ahead of LSU and Texas A&M in the West Division standings to earn a berth in the SEC title game. Mississippi State ended the season fourth in the West, and Ole Miss, Arkansas and Auburn rounded out the division.
In the East, the Bulldogs tied with Florida atop the standings, but Georgia won the head-to-head tiebreaker by virtue of a 17-9 victory over the Gators on Oct. 27. South Carolina and Vanderbilt finished second and third in the division, and Missouri, Tennessee and Kentucky placed fifth, sixth and seventh.
