Mavericks vs. Rockets final: Houston falls to Dallas

After taking a halftime lead, James Harden and the Rockets weren't able to hold off the Mavericks, giving up a fourth-quarter flurry to Dallas en route to Houston's second consecutive loss.

The Rockets held an edge over the Mavericks at the halftime break, but couldn’t hold on to close the deal, as Houston lost to Dallas, 116-109.

The Mavericks got off to a quick start, outscoring the Rockets 39-24 in the first quarter, before Houston came back in a big way, posting 42 in the second. The game was 66-63 Rockets at half, and after a close third quarter the Mavericks pulled away in the final period. A 12-point advantage over the last 12 minutes provided the winning margin for Dallas.

James Harden led the way for the Rockets, scoring 39 points on 10-of-16 shooting with six rebounds and nine assists. Chandler Parsons (18), Toney Douglas (13), Patrick Patterson (12) and Carlos Delfino (10) also finished with double-digit scoring efforts.

The Mavericks were led by O.J. Mayo, who scored 40 points while shooting 15-of-26 from the field. Chris Kaman added 20 points and seven rebounds, while Darren Collison (12) and Vince Carter (12) also finished in double figures.

The Mavericks' next game is Monday when they host the Sacramento Kings. Houston is also playing Monday, as they welcome the San Antonio Spurs.
