NBA Standings 2012: Thoughts Post 'The Stomp', As Rockets Have Lost Three Of Last Four

Its interesting to see how the Houston Rockets recover from their recent 100-91 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Sure, the Rockets found a way to get back in the game after being down heavily early on, but there's a psychological recovery that the Rockets might need to be concerned about.

Are the Rockets soft? Outside of Kyle Lowry stepping up and saying something, the Rockets were virtually unresponsive to "the stomp" Kevin Love gave Luis Scola. Should their toughness be called into question?

Many don’t understand the distinction between ‘toughness’ and ‘dirty play’, confusing the two and responding to calls like mine with trite platitudes about ‘classiness.’ No one here is asking a Rocket to throw a punch or instigate. Just get in the guy’s face. Give a hard, but safe foul (avoiding the head) at the other end. That alone is enough.

The Rockets, 2.5 games behind the division leading San Antonio Spurs, will have a day off to recover (and watch the Super Bowl) before they prepare to hit the road and face the Denver Nuggets.
