The official invite list for the NFL combine was recently released. Every year, there are a number of players who make an elite subset of guys who didn't get invites but still get drafted. It's hard to do, since the Combine invites a ton of people every year.
↵However, one such snub hails from pretty close to Houston. About halfway between Houston and the Louisiana border lies the town of Winnie. It's known as much for great cajun food at Al-T's as it is for being a turning point for those looking to get to Galveston through Crystal Beach.
↵It's also the home of East Chambers High School, a little bitty 2A program that recently sent Tramain Thomas to a Division I college at Arkansas. The senior safety just finished his career with the Razorbacks as one of the leading tacklers on the team.
↵Why he got snubbed, I have no idea, especially since he was named to the all-SEC team this year. Thomas may not run well, but as productive as he is, there's got to be some team willing to take a flier on him and hope he can help out on special teams.
↵Which would be pretty cool. How many small towns like that can boast an NFL player? Here's hoping Thomas gets the chance to make the number one bigger.
