Don't count out Robert Griffin III in the NFL, even though the Washington Redskins appear to have few options to help on that offense. Head coach Mike Shanahan knows his quarterbacks. Heck, this was a guy who got the most out of Jake Plummer!
↵We know Shanny likes his mobile QBs, and in Kyle Shanahan's offense, you know RGIII will be doing things like rolling out and putting pressure with naked bootlegs. Just think, if RGIII gets open like Matt Schaub does...he could run forever.
↵No, it makes a ton of sense that the Redskins traded up with St. Louis for the talented Baylor quarterback. However, the price was the highest since then-Saints head coach and GM Mike Ditka traded away everything he had for former University of Texas running back Ricky Williams.
↵How well did that work out?
↵Like the Redskins, the Saints back then were a flawed team that needed more than just one piece. Williams ended up getting traded to the Dolphins and sort of broke down, but never really took the Saints to the postseason or got them over the top like Ditka wanted.
↵Ditka traded nine picks to Washington for Ricky, including two first-rounders, a second-rounder and two thirds. Quarterbacks are a little more valuable than RBs to teams long-term, but Washington gave up a TON for the possibility of drafting RGIII. Three first-rounders? Really? Don't you think your QB may need some weapons down the road?
