The 2012 Shell Houston Open had to condense two rounds into Friday as Thursday's round was cut short due to rain, and after the first round it was Phil Mickelson picked up on the third hole to finish the round in a three-way tie for first place at 7-under with Carl Petterson and Angel Cabrera.
A lot of the players were able to get through the second round, but not everyone as play was suspended due to darkness on Friday night. So far through the second round it is Brian Davis and Louis Oosthuizen who are sharing the lead at 11-under. Mickelson who led after the first round is now two stroke backs after shooting 70 and is 9-under for the tournament.
Houston native Jeff Maggert is currently 10-under and had to cut his round short and only made it through the 10th hole, so he is one to watch as he can make some ground tomorrow morning
Former Houston Cougar Fred Couples shot a good first round with a 5-under for a score of 67, but he stumbled in round two by shooting plus-one 73 to be 4-under for the tournament and is sitting at a tie for 38th.
