2012 SWAC Conference Tournament, Prairie View Vs. Alcorn State Final Score: Panthers Lose, 103-79

The Prairie View A&M Panthers headed into the 2012 SWAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed. One short game later, they were headed home.

The Prairie View Panthers had a prime placement in the 2012 SWAC Tournament and likely had visions dancing in their head of a conference championship and automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament. Their 10-8 SWAC regular season record had them entering the tournament as the No. 4 seed and on Wednesday, they took on No. 8 seed Alcorn St. Braves. The Braves ran right through the Panthers and sent them home early with a 103-79 loss.

Alcorn wasted no time putting a hurt on the Panthers. opening up a massive lead and entering halftime leading by a score of 50-17. Prairie View battled in the second half and put up a whopping 62 points after the break, but the early hole was far too deep and they were unable to keep Alcorn from scoring. The Braves shot over 60 percent from the floor, while the Panthers shot under 40% on field goal attempts.

Kendrick McDonald of Alcorn State easily led all scorers with 26 points and was one of five Braves players to record double-digits in scoring. Only Louis Munks, with 13 points, broke the 10-point threshold for the Panthers.

The Braves now advance to Friday's semifinals, where they will take on No. 2 seed Texas Southern.
