Almond averaged 26.4 points per game during his senior season with the Owls, and was drafted by the Utah Jazz with the 25th overall selection in the 2007 NBA draft.
The start to his NBA career didn't pan out as he had in mind, as Almond played in just 34 regular season games with Utah and subsequently spent time in the NBDL and playing overseas.
Almond signed with the Maine Red Claws in January of this year, playing in 29 games and showing enough for the Wizards to take a chance on him for a second shot at an NBA career.
