Five college baseball teams are representing the state of Texas in the Top 25 standings and three of those programs are either in Houston or surrounding areas.
The Texas A&M Aggies are the No. 2 team in the country, as ranked by Baseball America while the Rice Owls are ranked No. 7. The Sam Houston State Bearkats, coming off a 13-game winning streak that was just ended by the Lamar Cardinals over the weekend, is ranked No. 24 under new head coach David Pierce who came from Rice.
Other Texas schools in the Baseball America Top 25 are the Baylor Bears and Texas Longhorns.
The Aggies and Owls match up with each other today in College Station. The Bearkats actually beat the Owls earlier in the season and have a meeting with Aggies on May 1.
