Astros v Marlins Series Review: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Wednesday night at Minute Maid Park, the Houston Astros wrapped up their three game series against the Miami Marlins taking only one of games.

The Good?

The Astros are still hitting well. There are exceptions, of course. J.D. Martinez is still struggling at the plate and Brad Mills is having him sit a few games. Hopefully in the meantime he and hitting coach, Mike Barnett, can iron out whatever is ailing his bat. Others have stepped up and started hitting with serious consistency.

Jordan Schafer has one again proven in this series that he will get on base regardless of the circumstances and Chris Johnson has found his power mojo, both contributing significantly to the lineup. Brian Bogusevic, not to be left out, also stood out in this series, hitting in the game winner Tuesday night.

The bullpen stood out in this series, shutting down the opposition effectively every time they took the mound.

With this 2-1 series win by the Marlins, the Astros stand at 6-3 this run at home so far. After a day off today, the Astros will head to Philadelphia to take on the Phillies.
