Rice Vs. UCF Baseball: Owls Win C-USA Title With 5-2 Win Over Black Knights

Rice captured another Conference USA title when they defeated Central Florida 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. John Simms earned the win for Rice as he pitched 5.1 innings, gave up only one run and struck out two batters. Tyler Duffy came into close out the game by pitching two innings and struck out five batters to earn his fifth save of the year.

The Rice offense started off hot by scoring four runs in the first four innings and the offense led by catcher Craig Manuel who went 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Shortstop Ford Stainback also had a big game by going 4-for-4 with a run and a RBI.

Saturday's game was the last series of the season for Rice and now up next is the Conference USA tournament that begins next week where Rice will be the top seed.
