2012 NCAA Baseball Projections: Texas A&M, Rice Expected To Host A Regional

With conference tournaments underway there will be daily, if not hourly, changes in who plays where in the NCAA tournament. One loss that has changed the regional hosting was when top-seeded LSU took an unexpected 3-2 loss to No. 7 seeded Mississippi State. LSU can still back door its way into the SEC title game, but their chances of hosting a region is now in question.

Texas A&M is pegged to host a regional and they are still looking good at achieving that goal after defeating Kansas in the opening round of the Big 12 tournament. The next step for Texas A&M would be for the Aggies to earn a national seed, but as of Thursday morning they are on the cusp of earning that.

The other local team who is expected to host a regional is Rice who so far is 1-0 in pool play at the 2012 Conference USA tournament after defeating Houston 7-5 in their first game. Rice is in the same situation as Texas A&M in that they are just on the outside of earning a national seed, but earning a bid to the NCAA tournament is wrapped up.
