The seventh seeded UAB Blazers completely demolished the second seeded UCF Golden Knights on Thursday in the 2012 Conference USA Baseball Tournament by a final score of 15-1.
After leading by a score of 2-1 through four innings, the the Blazers put up school record 13 runs in the top of the fifth inning. The game was called in the seventh inning due to the 10-run Conference USA Tournament rule.
In the record-setting fifth inning, the Blazers batted around two times as 18 different Blazer batters faced off against four different Golden Knight pitchers. The inning itself took a total of 49 minutes to complete. The inning featured seven hits, six walks, three wild pitches, two passed balls, two batters hit by pitches and two errors.
UAB finished the game with 17 hits with eight of the nine starters recording at least one hit and six who had multiple hits.
