The University of Southern Mississippi defeated the Houston Cougars in the Conference USA Tournament by a final score of 8-7 in a game that took 10 innings to complete.
USM jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning and by the sixth inning, found themselves ahead by a score of 4-1. But after scoring another run in the top of the seventh inning to bring the score to 5-1, but Houston came roaring back in the bottom of the frame by putting four tuns on the board to tie the game up at five runs apiece.
Southern Miss regained the lead by adding single runs in both the top of the eight and ninth innings to make the score 7-5, but in the bottom of the ninth, Houston fought back with two runs to send the game into extra innings.
USM would add another run in the top of the 10th inning to secure the victory.
