On the second day of the 2012 Big 12 baseball tournament, Oklahoma and Missouri earned byes to Saturday with respective wins over top seeds Baylor and Texas A&M.
In the first game on the day, No. 8 seed Kansas State upset No. 4 Oklahoma State 11-5. The Wilcats scored three runs before recording their first out and didn't look back. KSU shortstop Jake Brown went 4-for-5 with an RBI.
In the second game, No. 7 seed Kansas eliminated No. 3 seed Texas by a 4-2 score. Kansas scored three runs in the bottom of the first and starter Wes Benjamin gave up just one earned run over six innings as the Jayhawks scored the upset. KU led 4-1 entering the ninth. Texas scored a run and put the game-tying run on, but couldn't make the comeback.
In the third game, No. 4 seed Oklahoma beat No. 1 seed Baylor 3-2 on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth. Evan Mistich singled home the game-winning run. Cody Reine went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. With the win, Oklahoma earned a bye to Saturday. Baylor will have to play Kansas State on Friday, looking to earn a rematch with Baylor.
In the final game of the day, No. 6 seed Missouri earned a bye with a 5-3 win over No. 2 seed Texas A&M. Missouri pitcher Jeff Emens pitched 3 2/3 scoreless and hitless innings of relief to hold on to the win after Missouri took an early lead. Tiger shortstop Eric Garcia went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Missouri will next play Saturday, while A&M will have to play Kansas on Friday to earn a rematch.
