2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament: Rice, Texas A&M Named As Regional Hosts

Texas A&M and Rice have been selected to be a regional host for the 2012 NCAA baseball tournament.

Even though the Rice Owls and Texas A&M Aggies struggled in their respective conference tournaments each school was named to be a regional host for the 2012 NCAA tournament. In the Big 12 tournament Texas A&M fell to No 6 seeded Missouri in their second round game and then fell to No. 7 Kansas to be eliminated from the tournament.

In the Conference USA tournament the format was pool play, and Rice was the top seed fell to No. 5 Memphis 3-2, and since Memphis defeated Rice and went 2-1 they advanced to the title game.

Both schools had exceptional seasons to be one of the 16 schools to host a regional with Texas A&M finishing with a 42-16 record and Rice had a 40-17 record.

The entire field of 64 and the national seeds will be announced Monday at 12 p.m. ET live on ESPNU.
