Astros Vs. Rockies Final: Houston Loses First Game Of Doubleheader In Colorado

The Houston Astros couldn't get past the Colorado Rockies in the first game of their unusual Memorial Day doubleheader matchup. Colorado won 9-7, with home runs from Wilin Rosario and Troy Tulowitzki leading the charge.

Houston also had a first-inning home run by Jed Lowrie, who blasted a solo shot to right center field to give the Astros a 2-0 advantage, but it was their only lead of the game.

The Rockies responded swiftly in the bottom half of the opening inning, lighting Wandy Rodriguez up for five runs, including Rosario's two-run blast deep to left field. Houston tied the game at six runs apiece in the fifth inning and at seven in the seventh inning.

But Jordan Pacheco's two-run RBI single in the eighth inning pushed the Rockies out of Houston's reach.

The Astros hit the ball well. Scoring seven runs on 12 hits isn't bad at all, it just didn't measure up to Colorado's nine runs on 14. The second game of the doubleheader is schedule for 7 p.m. CT.
