Houston Vs. Rice Baseball: Series Preview, TV Info And More

The crosstown rivals will meet this weekend to battle for The Silver Glove, as Rice readies for the stretch run of the final season and another host site in the NCAA Regionals.

The Silver Glove Trophy is on the line this weekend when crosstown rivals Houston and Rice meet up for a three-game C-USA series. The No. 6 ranked Owls (31-12, 11-4 C-USA) will host the Cougars (14-26-1, 3-11-1 C-USA). The series marks Rice's return to play after a ten-day break for final exams and continues an 11-game homestand.

At the moment, the Owls are poised to host a first round Regional in the NCAA Tournament, clinching their 20th consecutive 30-win season and sitting in the Top 8 nationally in five out of six polls. However, the strength of Rice's schedule is backloaded to a crucial final week against ranked in-state rival Sam Houston State and a three game series at C-USA rival Central Florida to close conference play.
