Horse racing fans can pour themselves another mint julep today, as the Super Bowl of horse racing is finally upon us. The 138th Kentucky Derby is set to be held on Saturday, May 5, much to the delight of horse racing enthusiasts everywhere.

Post time for the 138th Kentucky Derby is scheduled for 6:24 p.m. locally at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, and 5:24 p.m. for fans in the Houston area. Fans looking to catch the race live had better be at their television sets by this time -- it is called the Fastest Two Minutes in Sports for a reason.
Televised coverage of the Kentucky Derby can be found on NBC, beginning at 3 p.m. CT with an all-access look at the Kentucky Derby, as well as a red carpet special for those interested in celebrities and fashion. Legitimate race coverage should begin at 4 p.m. CT, leading up to post time at 5:24. NBC will air a post-race show, celebrating the winner and recapping the race, which will last until 6 p.m. CT. Don't fret, though, as NBC Sports Network will carry a recap show starting at 6 p.m. CT.
