The number three seeded Sam Houston State Bearkats (38-20) will open the Rice regional in the 2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament against the third seeded Arkansas Razorbacks (39-19) on Friday, June 1st at Reckling Park in Houston, TX.
The Razorbacks have made the NCAA tournament for the 11th consecutive year and for the 25th time in program history despite going 0-2 in the SEC Tournament this year. They are hitting .279 as a team and will be led by All-American Matt Reynolds who is batting .340 and has seven home runs and 41 RBI's on the year.
The Bearkats enter the tournament having won their first Southland Conference regular season title since 1989 and went 2-2 in the Southland Conference Tournament. They are hitting .295 as a team and will be led at the plate by Anthony Azar who is hitting .382 on the year with three home runs and 35 RBI's.
Arkansas and Sam Houston State will kick off at 2 P.M. EST and all games will be live streamed online at RiceOwls.com.
