After three scoreless innings, the Arkansas Razorbacks got on the board against the Sam Houston State Bearkats in the fourth inning of the first game in the Houston Regional, as the Kats trail 2-0 after four.
Sam Houston's sophomore lefty Caleb Smith has pitched well so far, only giving up two hits, which has led to a pair of runs scored by Arkansas. But the Kats have uncharacteristically gone without much offense in this one. Sam Houston has only two hits, one from freshman center fielder Colt Atwood and the other from third baseman Kevin Miller.
The Razorbacks scored their runs on a sacrifice fly from Derrick Bleeker, then another by Jake Wise. With the fifth inning underway, SHSU catcher John Hale (former Rice player who suffered through injury for much of the season) led off with a single up the middle of the field.
Maybe SHSU can get something going here and at least match Arkansas' run production.
