It took only one inning for the Astros to lose 6-2 against the Rangers. Astros starting pitcher Jordan Lyles had been pitching a shutout through four innings, but the fifth inning is when things fell apart. Lyles allowed five straight singles which ultimately led to five runs, and his dismissal from the game.
As for the Astros, their bats were held in check by Yu Darvish who pitched eight solid innings by allowing only two runs while he struck out 11 batters. The only offense the Astros had was a 419-foot monster home run by Justin Maxwell in the eighth inning to make it a 5-2 game.
In the bottom of the ninth, Joe Nathan came in to close out the game for the Rangers, and that is exactly what he did as he allowed no runs and one hit in the bottom of the ninth inning.
