The Astros offense was able to score some runs off of Justin Grimm who was making his first major league start for the Texas Rangers. Jed Lowrie started things off with a home run off of Grimm in the first inning to give the Astros an early 1-0 lead. Then in the top of the fifth inning two more runs were put on the board against Grimm when Justin Maxwell and Jordan Schafer each knocked in a run to give the Astros a 3-0 lead.
The Rangers blew open the game in the bottom of the sixth inning as they beat up Astros starting pitcher Lucas Harrell for five runs. The key play in the inning was when Nelson Cruz hit a three-run home run to give the Rangers a 5-3 lead. Those five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning also allowed Grimm to earn his first major league win.
The Rangers went on to add two more runs in the seventh and another in the eighth inning to win 8-3.
