2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament, Belmont Vs. Louisiana-Monroe Final Score: Warhawks Win 6-3 To Stay Alive

In the Baton Rogue regional, the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks defeated the Belmont Bruins 6-3 to stay alive in the NCAA Tournament. Louisiana-Monroe got on the board first by scoring a run in the third inning when Caleb Cowers grounded out to second but knocked in Jeremy Sy.

In the fourth inning Louisiana-Monroe scored two more runs to go up 3-0 as Brandon Alexander scored on a wild pitch and then Judd Edwards scored when he was knocked in when Corben Green flied out to deep left field. Belmont would come back to tie the game by scoring three runs in the fifth inning all off of Louisiana-Monroe starting pitcher Cole Wine.

The game would stay scoreless until the bottom of the eighth inning when Louisiana-Monroe would score three runs. The bases were loaded for Louisiana-Monroe and Les Aulds grounded out to third but he knocked in the go-ahead run. With runners now on second and third Sy hit a two-RBI single to center field to give Louisiana-Monroe a 6-3 lead.

In the top of the ninth Kendall Thamm finished off the Belmont side in order to earn the win and to keep Louisiana-Monroe alive.
