2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament, Rice Vs. Arkansas Final Score: Owls Lose To Razorbacks 1-0

Rice came out on the short end of a 1-0 loss against Arkansas in the Houston Regional, and now they face an elimination game on Sunday. Arkansas scored the only run of the game on a ball that was hit hard and bounced off of third baseman Shane Hoelscher in the second inning.

This was the first time that Rice was shutout in the NCAA tournament losing to Louisiana-Lafayette 1-0 in back in 2010.

Rice had an amazing pitching performance by Ryne Stanek who pitched 7.1 innings, allowed two hits and struck out eight batters. However, that was all wasted since the Rice offense managed only six hits and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Arkansas had a solid pitching performance by righthander Ryne Stanek pitched seven shutout innings, and then Barrett Astin pitched the final two innings to complete the shutout.

Rice had one shot to tie the game in the ninth when J.T. Chargois led off the inning with a single and made his way to third base before Craig Manuel hit a grounder to first base to end the game.
