2012 NCAA Baseball: LSU Defeats Oregon State 6-5, Advances To Super Regional

LSU needed extra innings to get past Oregon State 6-5 and now they are advancing to the Super Regional round of the 2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament. With the game tied at five in the top of the 10 inning shortstop Austin Nola led of the 10th with a walk and then reached third base when JaCoby Jones hit a double.

Then there was a wild pitch by Oregon State pitcher Dylan Davis which allowed Nola to score the eventual game winning run. LSU had the bases loaded and were looking to do more damage, but they could not add any more runs.

In the bottom of the 10th LSU brought in Nick Goody who struck out Oregon State in order to win the game and advance to the Super Regional round next weekend.

LSU did get out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first when Mason Katz hit a RBI single and then Raph Rhymes followed that up with a two-run home run. Oregon State's was able to score the next five runs to go up 5-3 after six innings. LSU added a run in the seventh inning to cut the score to 5-4, and ultimately tied the game in the top of the ninth on a Alex Edward double.
