It seems CBS won't be making the same mistake twice. LSU SID MIchael Bonnette Tweeted Wednesday morning that the much-anticipated next chapter of the LSU / Alabama rivalry will be a primetime affair:
It's Saturday NIGHT in Tiger Stadium! CBS officially announces that @lsufball will host Alabama at 7 p.m. in Death Valley on Nov. 3.
— Michael Bonnette (@LSUBonnette) June 6, 2012
The game will kickoff at 8 p.m. ET (the peak of tailgate delirium in Baton Rogue) and will be part of a doubleheader CBS broadcast (no announcement has been made as to the second game, but we're guessing Missouri at Florida or Texas A&M at Mississippi State).
Per the terms of their contract with the SEC, CBS can exercise an option that moves one game a year to primetime, a clause they exercised a little too early last season, moving the October 1 Alabama vs. Florida game to primetime before momentum built to the Nov. 5 showdown in Tuscaloosa. The Gators / Tide game was a 38-10 rout, and then the network had to engineer a massive, intricate "trade" with ESPN to get LSU and Alabama in primetime, a mistake they're obviously not wanting to make in 2012.
The network also announced that LSU vs. Arkansas would be a 2:30 p.m. CT broadcast on Friday, November 23.
