2013 Texas A&M Football Recruiting: Aggies Land LB Edward Williams

The Texas A&M Aggies landed their 25th verbal commitment for their 2013 class from New Orleans linebacker Edward Williams. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Williams is not rated by any of the recruiting services at this time, but he had a dozen offers which included the likes of Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan, TCU, Colorado. Nebraska and other top programs.

Williams took a visit to College Station this past week and he had no intentions of making a commitment to the school at the time. However, that changed after he took a visit around the campus.

Williams came with his high school head coach Tony Holl who talked about Williams' visit ($):

"He was blown away by the facilities, the coaching staff, and the support staff," said Holl. "You could tell that he was really starting to enjoy being there and he said 'Coach. this is the place for me".

"After that, they took him to the academic center and had him speak to the support staff. We toured the football facilities, toured Kyle Field, and then the campus. He had good chemistry with the coaching staff and he enjoyed being around them. He thought the facilities were A+ and the support people were great."

Williams was not the only person making the trip that was "blown away" by the experience.

"His dad and godfather loved it," said Holl. "They were concerned with the academic part and all of their questions were answered. They liked the academic monitoring system that they have in place. I was actually blown away also, by the facilities, by the program in general. I think that they are going to do well and compete in the SEC with what I saw today."

Williams is scheduled to take visits to Oregon State and Arizona this fall, but Holl feels that those visits will not transpire as he feels Williams is fully committed to Texas A&M.

In Williams junior year he had 115 tackles and 11 sacks, and that was after even playing the first two games at nose tackle before switching to linebacker.

Here are highlights of Williams:
