2012 British Open: Golf's Biggest Names Atop The Leaderboard

While you were probably sleeping, the 2012 British Open kicked off at Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Course in Lancashire, England. So far, Australia's Adam Scott is at the top of the leaderboard after shooting a six-under par, 64 on Thursday. But some of golf's other big names are right on his heels.

American Zach Johnson is currently tied for second after shooting a five-under par, 65. Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson and Steve Stricker are all tied for sixth place with three-under par, 67's on the day.

Internationally, South Africa's Ernie Els and Ireland's Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy are all tied with Woods, Watson and Stricker for sixth place.

The second round of the tournament begins on Friday and expect a lot of these golfers to continue trying to put themselves in the best situation to win heading into Sunday's final.
