The Astros' losing streak reached five with Monday night's 11-2 loss to the Pirates in Pittsburgh.
Jordan Lyles gave up seven earned runs on nine hits over four-plus innings in the start. J.D. Martinez opened the scoring with an RBI-single in the first to give Houston a 1-0 lead. Martinez went 2-for-4.
But Lyles allowed four runs in the fourth inning, and pitched to three batters in the fifth before being pulled. All three came around to score, and Pittsburgh added another in the fifth. Rhiner Cruz gave up the fourth run in the inning.
Scott Moore hit a solo home run in the sixth for Houston's second run. He went 1-for-4. Fernando Abad allowed one run in the sixth, and Fernando Rodriguez gave up two earned runs in the eighth.
