If you didn't catch the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympics in London, well, apparently you weren't in the plurality. According to NBC Sports, the overnight rating for the 2012 Opening Ceremony was the highest for a non-United States Olympics ever.

Apparently, Americans really weren't interested in the Greek ceremonies.
Snark and joking aside, this is obviously excellent news for NBC, and as a consequence, you can expect overall interest in the Olympics and the actual games to increase this year -- which is a positive, of course.
The Opening Ceremony, unfortunately though, wasn't a live event for those in the United States, as it was tape delayed for prime time consumption.
