Case Keenum To Debut For Texans In Houston, Not At Carolina

Former record-setting Houston Cougar turned Houston Texan Case Keenum will get his first look as a professional quarterback in Houston, naturally. Texans head coach Gary Kubiak told the media on Thursday that Keenum won't get a look on Saturday in Carolina in favor of verteran backup John Beck, but that Keenum would get the fourth quarter of next week's home game against the 49ers (courtesy of the Houston Chronicle):

Kubiak had more praise for Keenum Thursday while suggesting that Beck needs to lift his game

"(Keenum) has made tremendous progress," he said. "Football is really important to him. He has really responded to his opportunity here in Houston. We’re all excited to see him play."

Beck and Keenum are battling for the third spot on the depth chart, as T.J. Yates is considered the de facto backup after having started much of the second half of last season while Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart battled injuries.
