Saints Interim Coach Aaron Kromer Installed For Texans Preseason Game

Aaron Kromer will serve as the New Orleans Saints' interim head coach, while Joe Vitt serves his six-game suspension for his involvement in the New Orleans bounty program.

Kromer has been with the team since the 2009 season, serving as New Orleans's offensive line coach. Kromer will continue to coach the offensive line.

By picking Kromer, it allows the offensive and defensive coordinators -- Pete Carmichael Jr. and Steve Spagnuolo --to focus on maintaining their current duties, rather than worrying about head coaching duties.

Kromer will begin serving as New Orleans's head coach immediately, and will coach New Orleans's final two preseason games, so that Kromer and the Saints can adjust properly.

The Houston Texans will be the first opponent of Kromer's head coaching career, as the two teams are set to participate in a preseason game on Saturday night. Houston figures to be a worthy opponent, as most teams use the third preseason game as a dress rehearsal for the regular season, and Kromer should have his handful with the talented Texans.
