Reliant Stadium Could Host Oklahoma State Vs. Miss. State In 2013, According To Report

Oklahoma St. is considering playing Mississippi St. at Reliant Stadium in Houston to open their 2013 football season, according to the Oklahoman. The game would bring a high-profile Big XII vs. SEC match-up to the state of Texas for a neutral site game at the 71,054 seat stadium.

The national TV coverage of the game makes the opportunity tempting, as does the huge number of Oklahoma St. alums in the area, but the access to Texas recruits tops the list of reasons to play the game. Any time a team can get into the state and in front of that much elite talent, it is tough to say no.

The hold up could be in the two non-conference games that Oklahoma St. already as scheduled for 2013. The Cowboys are already scheduled to head to Texas next season to play Texas San-Antonio and will host Lamar. If they decide to play the Bulldogs in Houston too, they will have just one non-conference home game, which will not thrill the fans or the city of Stillwater.

Oklahoma St. and Mississippi St. have played each other four times before, most recently in 1999. They have each won two of the contests.
