Rain has suspended play at the 2012 U.S. Open, on the opening day of the tournament.
Thunderstorms remain in the forecast on and off throughout the day Monday in New York City, so there's no guarantee that all of Monday's scheduled matches will be completed.
Both the men and women began play on Monday, with only three matches having been completed thus far. Women's No. 7 seed Samantha Stosur defeated Petra Martic in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
Two lower ranked women's matches have been completed as well, as Casey Dellacqua defeated Lesia Tsurenko 6-2, 6-3 and Anna Tatishvili defeated Stephanie Foretz Gacon, 6-2, 6-0.
Both Maria Sharapova and Andy Murray were supposed to have their matches get underway at 10 a.m. CT, but neither match has started.
