Astros Vs. Cubs Preview: Houston Hosts Chicago For Series Rubber Game

A day after sacrificing home the only run of the game, the Houston Astros will seek a series victory over the Chicago Cubs at home on Wednesday.

Houston will go with left-hander Fernando Abad, who is 0-3 with a 5.30 ERA on the season, to start against Cubs fellow lefty Travis Wood, who brings a 5-11 record and 4.42 ERA to the mound.

The Astros are winners of five of their last 10 games after Tuesday night's 1-0 win, which came courtesy of center fielder Justin Maxwell's sacrifice fly that scored second baseman Jimmy Paredes in the third inning and a six-pitcher combined shutout of the Cubs.

Houston starting pitcher Jordan Lyles earned the win, upping his record to 4-11, allowing just two hits and striking out five in five innings of work. Reliever Wilton Lopez notched his fourth save of the season after giving up two hits in the ninth.

First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Minute Maid Park, and the game can be seen on Fox Sports Southwest.
