The TCU Horned Frogs and LSU Tigers are scrapping a home-and-home series they had set up for 2013 and 2014, and instead are choosing to open the 2013 season in the Cowboys Stadium Classic, according to the Fort Worth-Star Telegram.

This game will not exactly be a neutral site, as the TCU campus is just 20 miltes away. However, LSU played against Oregon at Cowboys Stadium in 2011 and filled up the stadium with purple and yellow.

Money had to be a motivating factor as to why each school would give up a home game against a high-profile team that would sell out their home stadium. This year the payout for the Alabama and Michigan game in Cowboys Stadium was reportedly a split of $9.4 million, and LSU earned $3.5 million when they played Oregon in 2011.

This game will also likely be the premiere game to open the 2013 college football season and be in prime-time, as have most of the prior matchups that have been played at Cowboys Stadium.

This will be the second time that LSU will have played in Cowboys Stadium. Last year, they defeated Oregon, 40-27.
