Sam Houston State Vs. Baylor: Game Time, TV Info And More

Sam Houston State faces Baylor in one of its two matchups against FBS opponents this season after playing in the FCS title game last season.

Presswire

Sam Houston State gets a rematch of their 2010 season opener against Baylor when the two teams go head-to-head at Floyd Casey Stadium on Saturday. The Bears are obviously heavily favored over the FCS Southland Conference Bearkats, but this is not the same SHSU team it hammered two years ago.

Since that game, the Bearkats have won 21 of 26 games and are 15-1 in their last 16 games, with the one loss coming to North Dakota State in the FCS Championship at the end of what had been an undefeated season for the Kats in 2011.

SHSU players to watch in this one are going to be running back Timothy Flanders, and wide receivers Torrance Williams, Richard Sincere and Trey Diller. Flanders, who made his debut with the Bearkats in 2010 against Baylor after transferring from Kansas State, became the schools all-time leading rusher against Incarnate Word last week.

On defense for SHSU, pay attention to the defensive backs - All-American safety Darnell Taylor and cornerback Daxton Swanson, with Ken Jenkins at safety as well. Defensive end J.T. Cleveland leads the Bearkats up front.

The game will be broadcast at 6 p.m. CT on Fox College Sports.
